Diagonal-axis wind turbine blade prototypes
Iterative blade and hub geometry printed in carbon-fibre nylon to validate a diagonal-axis turbine concept before metal tooling.
Client: DAWTONE
Details
Metal tooling for a new turbine geometry costs months and a five-figure tooling budget. The concept needed physical validation at a fraction of that.
Solution
G3D printed successive blade geometries on the Advanced in carbon-fibre nylon, with each iteration informed by bench testing of the previous one.
Results
Geometry decisions were frozen before any metal was cut, and the tooling decision was made with measured data.
