Circular manufacturing

Waste is raw material in the wrong place.

G3D extrudes filament from recovered PET. The process, the numbers, and what we do with them.

The process

  1. 01

    Collection

Post-consumer PET bottles are collected and sorted by polymer type and colour.

  2. 02

    Sorting & washing

Labels, caps and contaminants are removed; flake is washed and dried.

  3. 03

    Shredding

Bottle preforms are shredded to uniform flake.

  4. 04

    Drying

PET is hygroscopic. Flake is dried to a moisture level that will not degrade extrusion.

  5. 05

    Extrusion

Flake is melted, filtered and drawn to filament diameter under closed-loop control.

  6. 06

    Spooling & QC

Diameter, roundness and tensile samples are checked before the spool is packed.

  7. 07

    Printed

The filament returns as a functional part — and can be recovered again.

What we do claim

G3D owns the process: collection, washing, shredding, drying, extrusion and diameter control all happen in our facility. We do not publish figures we have not measured.
